Cookie Policy

I. Who is responsible for this cookie policy?

Cvr NV, with company number 0438.423.370 and registered office at 3580 Beringen, Lochtemanweg 52 (info@cvr.be or 011/45.64.00), recognizes the importance of the safe processing of entrusted or received information, including personal data, and therefore ensures that all processing takes place in accordance with applicable national legislation (the Act of 30 July 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data replacing the Privacy Act), the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC as amended by Directive 2009/136/EC, as well as Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (hereinafter: GDPR), which has been in force since 25 May 2018.

With regard to the use of cookies, Cvr hereby states the following:

II. Scope

Cvr’s cookie policy applies to the entire website (www.cvr.be), as well as to all online services provided by Cvr, including mobile or web applications.

III. What are cookies and what are they used for?

The Cvr website uses so-called “cookies” (including HTTP cookies, web cookies, or browser cookies).

These are small files or pieces of data with a unique code that are stored between the browser, server, and the hard drive of your computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone when you visit the website. They allow certain preferences, settings, specifications, and/or other limited (personal) information to be recorded in order to support and optimize your use of the website, so you do not need to repeat this process on each visit. Certain cookies may also be used for analytical or marketing purposes.

Importantly, cookies do not contain viruses or other malware and therefore cannot install malicious software or other programs on your device.

Two categories of cookies can be distinguished: First-party cookies and third-party cookies.

First-party cookies are managed by Cvr itself and linked to the domain name of the website.
They are generally intended to allow the website to function and to remember certain user settings for future visits.

Third-party cookies, by contrast, are cookies placed on Cvr’s website but managed by third parties. An example is Google Analytics cookies, offered by Google Inc., which track user interaction and website activity for statistical purposes.

Google Inc. may transfer collected information, including personal data, to third parties if they process information on its behalf or if required by law.

Both categories may include session cookies (active only during the website visit) and persistent cookies (stored for a longer period on your device).

Depending on the category and type, the following data may be collected: IP address, browser information, location, first and last name, language, and any other personal information the user chooses to share during the website visit.

All such data may qualify as identifiable personal data under the GDPR. For more information regarding personal data processing, please consult Cvr’s privacy policy.

For optimal website use (www.cvr.be), it is recommended to accept or activate cookies. Cvr aims to improve user experience, ensure proper website functioning, and tailor website content to your needs. For this last purpose, mapping your browsing behavior may be necessary.

Personal data obtained via first-party cookies is processed internally and confidentially. Personal data you provide, for example via the contact form, is transmitted through a secure connection (SSL certificate). Cvr cannot guarantee the processing of personal data collected via third-party cookies. You should check the privacy and cookie policy of the relevant third party.

If you choose to restrict or refuse cookies, you may need to re-enter certain preferences or information on every visit. Access to or functionality of the website may also be affected. More information is available in Chapter VII.

IV. Types of cookies

Cookies used by Cvr or third parties can generally be classified as follows:

  • Necessary cookies:
Essential for proper website functioning (e.g., registering browser type to adjust display, load distribution, webshop payment facilitation, enabling user interaction).
  • Functional cookies:
Save user preferences to optimize user experience (e.g., login details, language settings).
  • Analytical or tracking cookies:
Collect information on website traffic through statistics (e.g., visit duration, visited pages, referral paths).
  • Marketing or advertising cookies:
Create user profiles for personalized ads aligned with visitor interests and preferences.
  • Social media cookies:
Enable integration of social media elements (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube), such as plugins, pixels, or similar technologies.

VI. Rights of the data subject

Under the GDPR, every data subject whose personal data is collected has the following rights (Art. 12–22 GDPR):

  • Right of access
  • Right to rectification
  • Right to restriction of processing
  • Right to object
  • Right to erasure
  • Right to data portability

More information on your rights and how to exercise them can be found in Cvr’s privacy policy.

Cvr reserves the right not to comply with a request if:
(a) the requester is not the data subject,
(b) the data subject is a legal person,
(c) the request concerns necessary/mandatory (technical) cookies for which no consent is required, or
(d) the request concerns cookies that collect data only anonymously.

Cvr aims to process your request as quickly as possible and aims to respond within 30 days. In some cases, this period may be extended with prior notice (Art. 12.3 GDPR).

VII. Restricting or blocking cookies

If you want to change your cookie preferences, refuse cookies entirely, or delete existing cookies, you can adjust your preferences via the cookie banner on the website. Where possible, you may choose cookie types individually. Once submitted, these choices are remembered during future visits through a functional cookie.

You may also block cookies by adjusting your browser settings. Methods vary by browser:

Google Analytics cookies can be restricted via the “opt-out browser add-on”:
https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=nl

Note: Necessary and/or functional cookies cannot be disabled, as they are essential for proper website functioning and do not require visitor consent. The same applies to cookies collecting anonymous data.

VIII. Cvr’s data protection policy

Beyond cookie use, Cvr may collect personal data in other ways, e.g., when using the contact form. This is based on user consent (Art. 6.1(a) GDPR).

We therefore recommend consulting the privacy policy for details on collected data, purposes, scope of use, retention periods, and data subject rights.

IX. Amendments to the cookie policy

Cvr reserves the right to amend its cookie policy at any time due to website changes affecting cookies or legal requirements.

Changes will be published on the website (www.cvr.be) and become effective upon publication. If your consent is required, you will be notified explicitly.

  1. Applicable law

This cookie policy is governed exclusively by Belgian law.

Only the courts of the judicial district of Cvr’s registered office have jurisdiction over disputes arising from this policy, without prejudice to Cvr’s right to bring proceedings before the courts of the data subject’s domicile.
